Why I can't record calls on Jolt?

Google is changing its Play Store policy to take down on a only working way of recording calls on android for third party apps like Jolt

New Guidelines for the Accessibility API and Call Recording:

Starting on May 11th, new rules will go into effect stating that the Accessibility API cannot be used for remote call audio recording. This means apps will no longer be able to record call audio using this API.

Key Points of the New Guidelines:

  1. Accessibility API Restrictions:
    • The Accessibility API is not designed for and cannot be used to record call audio.
    • Apps must document their use of the Accessibility API in their Google Play listing.
  2. Guidelines for IsAccessibilityTool:
    • Apps designed to support people with disabilities can use the IsAccessibilityTool to designate themselves as accessibility apps.
    • Apps not eligible for IsAccessibilityTool must meet prominent disclosure and consent requirements as outlined in the User Data policy. This is necessary because the accessibility-related functionality may not be obvious to users. For more information, refer to the AccessibilityService API help center article.
    • Apps should use more specific APIs and permissions instead of the Accessibility API when possible.

Impact on Call Recording Apps:

Due to these new rules, legitimate call recording apps, like Jolt, have had their updates rejected since May 2022. These apps could even be removed from the store if they use the Accessibility API for call recording.

We are working on finding a solution, but there is no fixed timeline for this. Apps like Oppo Dialer, Samsung Phone, and Google can still record calls because they have full control over the hardware. You won't find any other third-party apps that allow call recording.

If you find any app that allows call recording and is not a brand or system app, please share the details with us at officialcreativethinkers@gmail.com.
